North Devon’s wobbly start to the season continued when they were 23-run losers to Budleigh Salterton.

THE two top division games played this week produced 1,000 runs between them. Most came on the batsmen’s paradise that was Creedy Park, where home side Sandford posted an imposing total of 316-5.

Spring 2012 hasn’t been one to remember for the eventing community; prolonged rain has wreaked havoc with the calendar and several high-profile competitions have been lost to the elements. The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials and Chatsworth are the most high-profile casualties and as a result, riders from all over the world have been left without a run and even more importantly, the chance to secure selection for this year’s Olympics.

All set fair for first Bratton meeting
The Dulverton West hosts this Sunday’s meeting at Bratton Down and with the going good to soft, with a good covering of grass, a competitive day of action is on the cards. More than 140 entries have been received in all for the main card which begins at 1pm, with two pony races commencing before this at 11.45am, writes Donna Harris.
