North Devon Sinfonia will lead Last Night of the Proms at Barnstaple Pannier Market

The North Devon Sinfonia orchestra is set to light up Barnstaple Pannier Market on Friday, September 19 with a spectacular ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert.

This event promises to fill the heart of Barnstaple with vibrant music and patriotic spirit, perfectly setting the stage for the town’s carnival weekend.

The concert will feature an eclectic mix of music, including rousing patriotic choruses while the second half will offer a diverse selection of music, culminating in Jerusalem and God Save the King.

Programme highlights include Zimmer - Pirates of the Caribbean, Strauss II – Blue Danube, Schwartz – Wicked, Elgar – Nimrod & Pomp and Circumstance and Parry – Jerusalem.

The orchestra will also be joined by singers performing songs from Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.

Lee Baxendale, cultural producer, said: “The Last Night of the Proms at Barnstaple Pannier Market is always such a special occasion. It brings people together in the heart of the town to share an evening of uplifting music and community spirit.

“We’re delighted to welcome North Devon Sinfonia back again this year – it promises to be a truly memorable night.”

Tickets are £12 per adult and £5 for children and are available for buy online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/panniermarket or in person from the Pannier Market office.

Please note the Pannier Market is unheated, so those attending are encouraged to wrap up warmly.
