Coby Allcorn and Leo McMenamin
Bideford schoolboys Coby Allcorn and Leo McMenamin were both in action on the Sydenham ABC show and were victorious in two superb bouts.
Allcorn boxed against John Stevens from Weston Warriors. Stevens boxed well on the back foot to win the first round. In the second, Allcorn pressed the action, scoring with combinations in a dominant round.
It was all to play for in the last but Allcorn wasn’t going to let it slip, he got inside, breaking Stevens down with non-stop pressure to get the points win.
McMenamin boxed against Ethan Walcott from King Alfred ABC. Walcott had a big reach advantage but couldn’t use it to full effect, as McMenamin worked the body, slowing him down. In the second, McMenamin continually trapped his opponent on the ropes, using his superior hand speed to good effect.
In the last, a standing count was required for Walcott, as McMenamin continued his onslaught of punches with no reply, resulting in a deserved points win.
