Bideford ABC sign another rising star in boxing
Bideford Boxing Club have strengthened their professional ranks with the signing of hugely decorated amateur boxer Will Gardiner.
Gardiner, who comes from Parkstone, will compete in the lightweight division after building an impressive amateur career packed with titles and success at major competitions.
Club manager Richard Grigg announced the signing, expressing his pride at securing the talented fighter and confidence in his prospects as a professional.
Gardiner will continue to work under the guidance of trainer Kev Thorniley, who has overseen his development in the amateur code and will remain in his corner as he makes the transition to the professional ranks.
His amateur résumé is an impressive one, featuring a National Novice Championship title and five Western Counties Elite Championship victories.
He has also claimed honours at the Warehouse Box Cup, Warsaw Box Cup and Riviera Box Cup, while reaching the final of the prestigious Haringey Box Cup.
Gardiner's achievements also saw him seeded England number one in the Elite Championships.
He went on to reach two elite semi-finals and two elite quarter-finals, underlining his consistency against high-level opposition.
Now the focus switches to the professional game, where Bideford Boxing Club believe his experience, pedigree and continued partnership with Thorniley can provide the foundations for further success.
Grigg is confident Gardiner has the potential to make a significant impact in the lightweight division, with major titles firmly in the club's sights.
The signing represents another boost for Bideford as they continue to build their professional boxing stable, with Gardiner's wealth of amateur experience offering plenty of encouragement for the challenges ahead.
