West Buckland School to host North Devon’s first Christmas drone show

The spectacular drone show, Christmas Fair and a host of festive events, music and entertainment takes place at West Buckland School on Saturday, November 28
What is thought to be North Devon’s first-ever Christmas drone show will be held at West Buckland School at the end of November.
The magical festive event and light show will take place on Saturday, November 28 and will be raising money for the Royal Marines Charity.
The school is hoping the brand-new West Buckland Christmas Drone Spectacular will become one of North Devon's most exciting Christmas traditions.
At the heart of the event will be a Christmas-themed drone display by Afterglow. This innovative show offers an environmentally conscious alternative to traditional fireworks, using hundreds of illuminated drones to create stunning festive scenes in the night sky.

The event will also support The Royal Marines Charity through a dedicated Charity Christmas Tree Festival.
The event runs from 3pm in the school grounds and will also include a festive performance by Chivenor Military Ladies Choir.
There will also be a Christmas Fair featuring local artisan and craft stalls, hot food and seasonal refreshments, musical performances and community sing-alongs plus family arts and crafts activities.
There will be a festive trail to explore with family and friends, plus the chance to meet Santa, enjoy face-painting, gingerbread making and wreath-making workshops with Fuss Pots, among other festive activities through the day.

Cornwall-based Afterglow is licensed to fly up to 450 drones and November’s event at West Buckland promises creativity, technology and sustainability, with all the excitement and wonder of a major fireworks event while reducing noise pollution and environmental impact.
A school spokesperson said: “We are incredibly excited to bring this unique event to North Devon. The Christmas Drone Spectacular combines festive fun, community spirit and charitable fundraising in a way that reflects our values as a school.
“By choosing a drone display over traditional fireworks, we are also embracing a more sustainable approach to celebration while still creating a truly magical experience for families. We hope this will become a much-loved Christmas tradition for years to come.”
