Bernard Regan, author of The Balfour Declaration: Empire, The Mandate and Resistance in Palestine, will be speaking in Barnstaple.
An eminent writer and campaigner will be giving a free talk at Barnstaple Library this March on his book covering Britain’s colonial past in Palestine and the impact it still has today.
Bernard Regan, author of The Balfour Declaration: Empire, The Mandate and Resistance in Palestine, will be speaking the library on Saturday, March 7 from 2pm.
The talk is hosted by the North Devon Palestine Solidarity Campaign and will be held in Room 2A.
It is free to attend but a bucket collection will be taken for The Hebron International Resources Network, which working to support those struggling with settler violence and destruction in the West Bank and to support those still living in Gaza.
Mr Regan will speak on and answer questions about the history behind current events in Israel/Palestine and what is happening now.
Describing the book, which was published in 2018, Oxford professor Karma Nabulsi wrote: ‘Most have heard of the Balfour Declaration, without fully appreciating its history and consequences.
‘With this meticulous and insightful study, we have a fascinating and timely guide to British colonial policy in Palestine and its devastating impacts for the Palestinian people to this day’.
