A talented young Devon cricketer is set to become one of the new faces of women’s cricket after being appointed as an ambassador for pioneering sportswear brand Maiden Cricket.

Fifteen-year-old Rebecca Savory, who represents North Devon Cricket Club and Sandford Cricket Club, has joined the fast-growing company to help promote girls’ and women’s participation in the sport and inspire the next generation of players.

Maiden Cricket was founded in 2024 by teenage sisters Honor and Cat Black, who were frustrated by the lack of comfortable, well-fitting cricket kit designed specifically for female players. Determined to address the issue, the sisters launched their own brand, creating stylish, functional clothing tailored to the needs of women and girls in the game.

Rebecca was selected from hundreds of applicants nationwide to join the Maiden Ambassador programme, which supports female cricketers aged eight and above who are passionate about inclusivity and growing the sport at schools, universities and clubs.

Cricket has played a central role in Rebecca’s life since the age of nine, when she began playing in her back garden and watching her older brothers compete. Now an accomplished all-rounder, she has captained her school team to the regional finals and toured Sri Lanka with the Devon Under-15s squad.

Speaking about her new role, Rebecca said she was excited to be working with Maiden Cricket and helping to improve access to suitable kit for female players.

“I can’t wait to help get every young girl and woman feeling confident in what they wear, so they can focus on the game and, most importantly, enjoy themselves,” she said.

Cat Black, co-founder of Maiden Cricket, welcomed Rebecca to the team, saying the brand was committed to championing girls’ cricket and highlighting the positive impact the sport can have.

“We’ve built a brilliant community around our mission, and it’s fantastic to have Rebecca on board. We’re confident she’ll be a great role model as a Maiden ambassador,” she added.
