Serving members of the armed forces, veterans and their families are being invited to North Devon’s first free Big Breakfast event which will offer support and networking opportunities plus plenty of camaraderie.

The Veterans Charity will be hosting the event at The Barnstaple Hotel on Saturday, February 21 from 9.30am to 12.30pm and as well as the opportunity to meet like-minded people from the forces community, a variety of support organisations will also be in attendance.

The Big Breakfast – Networking & Engagement Event has been made possible thanks to sponsorship from the British Business Forum in Kuwait.

It means attendees will be able to enjoy a complimentary breakfast while accessing a wide range of opportunities for networking, engagement, and support – at no cost.

It follows two successful Big Breakfasts hosted by The Veterans Charity at RAF St Mawgan and RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall.

The Barnstaple-based charity provides welfare and emergency support for veterans across the UK who have fallen into difficulties and need help with anything from accommodation to essentials such as food, clothing and mobile phones.

CEO Danny Greeno said: “We are very excited to be bringing our successful Big Breakfast events to Devon, having previously hosted two similar events at RAF St Mawgan and RNAS Culdrose.

“We are delighted to have wonderful support from The British Business Forum in Kuwait, who have helped to make it possible for us to enable veterans and service personnel to attend for free.

“They can not only enjoy breakfast and great company, but also the chance to engage with some of our partner organisations and support teams who provide a wealth of assistance to the armed forces community.”

A number of respected organisations have already confirmed their attendance, including The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, Ferrovial UK, Naval Children’s Charity, Female Veterans Transition Programme, Defence Medical Welfare Service, Highground Charity and SSAFA.

Mr Greeno said the Big Breakfast events had already proven successful in bringing together the armed forces community and key support organisations, creating meaningful connections and improving awareness of the help that is available.

The event is free, but to attend, please book your places via https://bigbreakfast.eventbrite.co.uk
