Early bird entry is now available for the hugely popular Nightwalk, with registration now open for the flagship North Devon Hospice event this May.

On Saturday, May 16 it is hoped that 1,000 walkers will set off from Bideford Rugby Club to walk the Tarka Trail when the sun goes down, choosing to walk either three or 10 mile routes in memory of someone special.

This year's memory walk will feature special stations along the route, offering meaningful opportunities for participants to make their mark and honour loved ones.

On registration, walkers will be invited to share a song that reminds them of the person they're walking in memory of, which will be added to the soundtrack of Nightwalk on the evening.

The much-loved memory bridge will also be making its return, alongside many more touching tributes throughout the evening.

Georgia Bedgood, events manager at the hospice, said: “It's such a moving evening. Everyone has a fantastic time walking along the beautiful route of the Tarka Trail.

“Starting at Bideford Rugby Club and walking as the sun sets with stunning views is just very special. It’s also a way you can support us to continue to provide vital end of life care and support, to those who need it most in our local community. So, get your friends and family together and make the most of our early bird sign-up offer of just £25.”

The early bird offer is available until January 31.

The walk is open to everyone aged 11 and over, with all participants under 18 required to be accompanied by an adult. Each walker can choose their own fundraising target, ensuring that every step taken helps provide vital end of life care and support across North Devon.

Hannah Crawley, team lead of North Devon Hospice’s Bedded Unit, added: “Every single pound raised through Nightwalk makes a real difference to the care we can provide.

“We know our amazing supporters often go above and beyond their fundraising target because they understand how much it means to local families. These funds help us continue being there for our community, delivering expert, compassionate care exactly when it's needed.”
