Light a candle in the hospice's Virtual Glow Garden
This Christmas, North Devon Hospice is inviting the community to come together and celebrate the memory of loved ones through their annual Light Up a Life campaign. Supported by the North Devon Gazette and sponsored by James Electrics, this initiative offers a special way for people to remember those they miss during the festive season.
Light Up a Life provides the chance to light a candle in honour of a loved one and create a dedication in the hospice's ‘Virtual Glow Garden.’
Each dedication serves not only as a tribute but also as a meaningful donation, helping North Devon Hospice to deliver essential care and support to families across the region throughout Christmas and beyond.
Lizzie Hanks, Head of Fundraising at North Devon Hospice, expressed how meaningful this campaign is to those facing the loss of a loved one, particularly at this time of year.
“At North Devon Hospice, we understand that memories can burn brightest at Christmas; wishing we could share the season with that special person, just one more time,” said Lizzie.
“Light Up a Life is your way of honouring their amazing spirit and letting their precious memory shine once more while helping to light up the lives of other people in our community experiencing their darkest times.”
The campaign also includes a series of candlelight services held at churches across North Devon throughout December.
These gatherings provide a comforting environment where supporters can come together by candlelight to reflect and remember their loved ones in a communal setting.
“However you take part in Light Up a Life, whether it’s lighting a candle for a loved one, making a heartfelt dedication in our gorgeous ‘Virtual Glow Garden’, or attending one of our stunning candlelight services, your support will mean the world to the people we’re caring for this Christmas,” added Lizzie. “It will mean we can help patients remain at home surrounded by their loved ones and home comforts, or that our nurses can be here to provide 24-hour care on our Bedded Unit, to help families spend precious time together. Thank you.”
