North Devon Hospice’s infamous Jailbreak fundraiser is back! Wondering who will be locked up behind bars this year? Events manager Lisa shares more…

One of the things I love most about living in North Devon is being part of such a generous and close-knit community. From the sandy shores of Woolacombe to the rolling North Molton hills, our area is full of good-hearted people who will do whatever it takes to help others in their time of need. And when I say whatever, I mean whatever!

From undergoing months of hard core marathon training or tackling tough obstacles at Mission: Unbreakable, to walking mile after mile through the dark at Nightwalk or taking to the skies for a charity skydive, our incredible supporters rise to these challenges time and time again to help fund vital care at North Devon Hospice.

Next week, 10 more fabulous fundraisers (or should I say ‘crafty criminals’) will be putting themselves through it and heading behind bars to take part in another flagship hospice fundraiser: Jailbreak.

On Thursday, January 25, a motley crew of ‘prisoners’ will be rounded up and carted off to Barnstaple Police Station by our fantastic local officers, who will once again, be giving their time voluntarily to be part of this year’s hospice Jailbreak.

Amongst those being locked up and tried for their ‘crimes’ are Rob Braddick, James Parkes, Dan Turton, Lauren Hardman, Chris Hill, Charlotte Boustead, Penny Collis, Levi Tucker and Colin and Mandy Webber – all familiar faces from our community that you’re sure to recognise!

To escape the cells and enjoy that sweet taste of freedom once again, this bad bunch will have to make bail and raise enough money to hit their fundraising targets and help provide vital care to patients and families at North Devon Hospice.

But this will only be possible with your help!

While I’m sure seeing some of these familiar faces behind bars will make you smile, their gruelling efforts will mean even more for the patients and families we’re privileged to support here at your local hospice.

Every pound you give during Jailbreak will help to ensure that we can be here to hold them, lift them up in their darkest times, and offer comfort and reassurance whenever it’s needed.

Because when you’re facing a life-limiting illness such as cancer, care like this really does mean the world.

Throughout Jailbreak, we’ll be posting a whole host of updates on our hospice social media channels to let you know how our prisoners are holding up and where you can donate to ensure their release at the end of the day.

Will they raise the funds needed or remain stuck in the cells?! Join us for Jailbreak next Thursday to find out!
