Police appeal after hate crime graffiti sprayed on Exeter Mosque

Police have launched an appeal for information after racially aggravated graffiti was sprayed on a mosque in Exeter.

The incident took place overnight between Thursday 30 January and Friday 31 January at a building on Main Road in Pinhoe.

Officers say the graffiti, which has been recorded as a hate crime, was discovered the following morning and has since been removed.

Devon and Cornwall Police have condemned the act and are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to identify the person responsible.

In a statement, the force said: “We want to be clear that there is no place for racism in Exeter and we will continue to work to identify the person responsible.”

Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area at the time, or who has any information that could assist the investigation, to get in touch.

Anyone able to help is asked to contact police on 101 or via the Devon and Cornwall Police website, quoting crime reference number 50260025852.
