The A30 is currently closed due to flooding
Drivers are facing disruption on the A30 in East Devon due to significant flooding.
The road is closed in both directions between the B3174/B3180 junctions near Ottery St Mary and the B3184 for Exeter Airport. Standing water has made the route impassable, and conditions remain hazardous.
National Highways said crews are monitoring water levels and working to restore safe conditions as soon as possible.
Devon and Cornwall Police have issued an urgent warning this morning (January 27), advising drivers not to travel in the affected areas unless absolutely necessary and never to attempt to drive through flood water.
The force said many roads in the area have become impassable following recent heavy rainfall.
Traffic officers and emergency services are on site managing the situation, with delays expected on surrounding routes. Police emphasised that while the weather is improving, rivers are still responding to the earlier downpours.
Motorists are urged to drive to the conditions, maintain extra distance from other vehicles, and stay alert. Authorities continue to stress that your safety and the safety of others depend on responsible driving during adverse weather conditions.
