Totnes Fringe Festival seeks volunteers to help shape 2026 event

Totnes Fringe volunteers in 2025

Organisers of the Totnes Fringe Festival are calling for volunteers to help deliver the 2026 event, following the success of the festival’s inaugural year.
Launched as a bold, independent celebration of live performance, the Totnes Fringe Festival made its debut in 2025 and was run entirely by volunteers. The first festival featured more than 65 performances across 11 venues in the town, attracting over 3,000 audience members. Organisers reported an average seat occupancy of around 85 per cent, with several shows selling out, highlighting strong local and regional support for the new event.
Building on that momentum, the festival team is now looking to expand its volunteer base, inviting people from Totnes, the wider South West and beyond to get involved in shaping the 2026 programme. No previous experience is required, with organisers emphasising that enthusiasm for live performance and a commitment to community-led culture are the most important qualities.
Volunteers are needed across a wide range of roles, including stewards, runners and marketing assistants. The festival is also particularly keen to hear from people interested in becoming venue managers, supporting the technical team with lighting and sound, working in box office and front-of-house roles, or assisting with accountancy and data management to help keep the festival sustainable.
To welcome potential volunteers and reflect on the achievements of the 2025 festival, Totnes Fringe is hosting an informal get-together on Sunday 11 January 2026. The event will take place from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the Ballroom at The Barrel House in Totnes and will offer an opportunity to meet the organising team, hear about plans for 2026 and find out more about volunteering with the Fringe in a relaxed and friendly setting.
Those unable to attend the event but interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact the organisers by emailing info@totnesfringe.uk for further information.
