Torquay United will enter 2026 sitting fourth in the National League South and five points behind leaders Worthing after being held to a 0-0 draw at Bath City.
The Gulls controlled the early exchanges at Twerton Park and conjured a minor opening when Callum Dolan fizzed a low cross for the arriving Jordan Young, but his effort was blocked by a home defender.
United maintained that dominance with confident spells of possession against a Bath side seemingly content to soak up the pressure. Dan Hayfield found a gap in the home defence to slip a pass for Matt Jay, who was inches from picking out Louis Dennis with his cross-shot.
Young forced the first real save from Harvey Wiles-Richards midway through the first period, with Dolan lurking for the rebound, and it was Young causing problems again moments later, as his deep cross was met by Hayfield, but the home custodian was in the right place to thwart with his feet.
Bath had little to offer at the other end of the pitch and the half concluded with Young and Dennis working the ball nicely for Jay, who was narrowly off target with his instinctive effort.
United lacked a bit of energy in the opening stages of the second period, prompting manager Paul Wotton to freshen up his ranks with the introduction of Dylan Morgan and Cody Cooke, and it was the big striker who struck the side-netting on 68 minutes.
Bath, on the other hand, were happy with the status quo, as the Gulls became increasingly frustrated with their inability to create a match-winning opportunity. The ball was flung into the danger area over the closing minutes but there was no reward.
United move on to Dover Athletic away on Saturday.
