Gallery: North Devon Festival of Transport is a roaring success

The North Devon Festival of Transport once again rolled into Bideford’s Victoria Park on Sunday (August 10) drawing crowds to a spectacular showcase of classic cars, vintage motorcycles, commercial vehicles, military transport and modern marvels.

Visitors enjoyed a journey through time, admiring lovingly restored machines and meeting the passionate owners who keep transport history alive.

With around 400 vehicles plus an estimated 5,000 through the gates, organisers were pleased with the turnout – and the weather!

First held in 2022, the festival has grown from a modest local gathering into one of the region’s most anticipated annual events.

What began as a small meet for local enthusiasts has become a major attraction, welcoming exhibitors and visitors from across the South West and beyond.

Over the years, it has celebrated not only engineering heritage but also the role of transport in shaping North Devon’s culture and community life.

This year’s event was jointly organised by the Bideford Bridge Rotary Club and the North Devon Sports and Classic Car Club.

It is expected the event will once again have raised thousands for two local good causes - assisting Northam Care with funding for their new hydrotherapy pool and the South West Blood Bikes charity.

Organisers thanked all the volunteers, sponsors and visitors whose support ensures the festival’s continued success.

“It’s about more than just vehicles,” said Andy Heather, Bideford Bridge Rotary Club President, “it’s about people coming together, sharing stories, and giving back to the community.”

Clare Kane, secretary of NDSCCC, added: “The organisers were completely blown away by the support shown not only by our exhibitors but also by our visitors.

“At the end of the day without everyone's support the event would not have become what it is a now. We try to create a family friendly, welcoming day for all and the feedback from entrants and visitors alike has proved that we achieved our aims.”
