Trailers shed their loads on North Devon roads

Overturned vehicles cause a stink in Barnstaple and Holsworthy – in more ways than one!

TRAFFIC problems hit Barnstaple and Holsworthy this morning (Thursday) when two vehicles overturned in separate incidents.

One lane of the North Devon Link Road at the Lake roundabout near Barnstaple was closed to traffic after an articulated lorry carrying straw bales overturned at around 10am.

Straw bales are having to be removed and heavy lifting gear has been called in to right the lorry.

Drivers are being warned to avoid using the A3072 through Holsworthy after a trailer overturned at around 10.30am, blocking the roadway with 10 tons of manure!

It is believed that the trailer, which was being towed by a tractor, suffered a puncture, causing it to overturn outside of Holsworthy school.

No-one was injured in either of the incidents.
