Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle are two of the form teams in Sky Bet League One after both recorded impressive victories on Saturday, while it was a hat-trick of red cards on the English Riviera.

City and Argyle have both climbed into mid-table, and the Grecians were particularly impressive in sweeping aside Stevenage with a 3-0 victory at St James Park.

The scoring started four minutes into the second half, when Jayden Wareham notched his 12th goal of the season from the penalty spot. Wareham almost added a second before Ethan Brierley did double the lead with a fabulous finish from 20 yards.

The Grecians were on fire and Stevenage had no answer to the attacking waves in red and white, with gloss added to a fine day when debutant Timur Tutierov converted from close range.

The win for Argyle at Peterborough United was a far scruffier affair, Bim Pepple scoring the only goal midway through the first half. The Pilgrims defended stoutly for the remainder of the game and a tremendous rise to 14th in the table after being at the bottom before Christmas.

Torquay United remain in the hunt for automatic promotion from the National League South after a 1-1 draw with Maidstone. The Gulls played against ten men for much of the second half but were unable to find a winner, as the game descended into a late chaos with Torquay losing two players to red cards in stoppage time.
