Golfer donation to North Devon Hospice
Mortehoe & Woolacombe Golf Club held their annual Open Club Championship on Saturday, September 13. This year, funds raised from the event are to be donated to North Devon Hospice.
The competition was in memory of Matthew Darke, a well respected and much liked member of the club who sadly passed away earlier in the year after suffering from terminal cancer.
Matthew had received the benefit of the Hospice's incredibly efficient and kind services, and his family were exceedingly pleased for the Club to run the competition in order to support the Hospice.
The event was enjoyed by 65 players and the Club thanks all those who took part and, in particular, those members who sponsored tees in Matthew's memory.
In addition, many members donated raffle prizes for the post competition celebrations and the attached photo shows the presentation of the Club's cheque to a member of the Hospice's fund-raising team.
The cheque in the sum of £2,500.01 was gratefully received and will no doubt be put to exceedingly good use.
