Bideford Cricket Club Juniors in the new Pig and Olive Sponsored Shirts
There is a giant slice of community excitement, as multi-award-winning North Devon pizza business Pig and Olive is celebrating its tenth year through a new partnership with Bideford, Littleham & Westward Ho! Cricket Club.
Founded in 2014, Pig and Olive has grown from a single mobile van to a much-loved local favourite with three thriving locations: a stone-baked pizza restaurant in Westward Ho!, a dedicated takeaway in Barnstaple, and a mobile pizza van that travels across rural North Devon.
Their pizzas, made with slow-fermented dough and carefully selected ingredients, have earned multiple awards and a loyal customer following.

This summer, the business has chosen to support the club’s Juniors section, an active youth programme with 108 children across multiple age-group teams. Based just across the road from the cricket ground in Westward Ho!, Pig and Olive has long been a neighbour to the club and says getting involved with the Juniors felt like a great way to support something local and meaningful.
“We believe in being part of the community, not just working in it,” says Pig and Olive co-owner Rachel Hicken. “Supporting the youth team felt like the perfect way to celebrate ten years of our business and invest in the future of local sport.”
The Juniors have produced generations of local talent, with many former players now representing the senior teams or even county-level cricket. According to the club, this grassroots section is vital to ensuring cricket remains accessible to all.
“Sponsorship means everything to the club,” explains Rod Hannam, Sponsorship Chair at Bideford, Littleham & Westward Ho! Cricket Club.
“We are a community club and we aim to be as inclusive as possible by ensuring no one is prohibited from playing cricket because of the cost. With the help and support of local businesses like Pig and Olive we can continue to keep our subscriptions and match fees as low as possible.”

This sponsorship goes beyond financial backing. For the club’s junior players, it’s a visible show of support that builds connection, confidence, and a shared team spirit.
“Our support helps the Juniors feel like they belong,” says Alysa Freeman, Marketing Manager at Pig and Olive. “The training shirts are just one example — it’s about identity, pride, and feeling part of something that matters.”
The club continues to grow with the recent launch of a Ladies Section and new Walking Cricket sessions for over 50s. As it looks to the future, it remains grounded in its role as a true community hub — one Pig and Olive is proud to support.
Whether you’re a regular at the boundary rope or just looking for something to do on a sunny afternoon, head down to the cricket ground to catch a match. You might even spot a few of the Juniors in action. Grab a pizza from Pig and Olive across the road and enjoy a summer day in Westward Ho! while supporting a brilliant local team.
