Bideford v Barnstaple
Robins flying in summer campaign
The Robins of Bideford were left chirping happily in the North Devon rain after a comfortable pre-season victory over Barnstaple Town in a pre-season friendly at the Sports Ground.
Ryan Turner provided the perfect opening for the home side, slotting a tidy finish at the near post inside two minutes, and he almost made it 2-0 midway through the half, firing inches over from a Josh Webber cross.
A top save from Charlie Searle preserved the Bideford lead and they took full advantage when Webber doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time.
Archie Reay was next to go close for the Robins, who also had to survive a few scares from an improving Barum before Scott Robinson, a summer signing from Brixham, pounced on a defensive lapse to complete the 3-0 triumph.
Ilfracombe Town followed up a 1-0 victory over Holsworthy with another narrow pre-season victory, this time Sam Wright and Liam Martin scoring the goals to defeat Okehampton Argyle 2-1.
