EASTSIDE Under-7s were in sparkling form at the weekend - in a brand new kit sponsored by Taw Ford of Barnstaple.
The youngsters nearly went all the way in a tournament held by Barnstaple Town Youth Football Club as part of the Tews Lane Sports and Recreation Association annual open day.
Eastside's Tyler Gordon-Oke was on fine form, scoring 14 goals, including a superb right foot volley. Peter Berry scored three, Archie Mulligan scored two and Jack Drury and Daniel Mock both hit singles, while goalkeeper Benjamin Brend pulled off a string of excellent saves to help set up a semi-final appearance against Barnstaple Youth, where they were beaten 2-0.
Barnstaple went on to beat Bideford Blues in the final 5-0.
Eastside team manager Ross Drury congratulated his side on a fine tournament and thanked Taw Ford and Richard Brend for supplying the team their new kit.
Any players interested in joining Eastside are welcome to go along to training, on Tuesday nights from 6-7pm at Rock Park.
For more information, telephone Ross Drury on (01271) 321894 or 07977 932249.
