The sound of brass music is once again ringing through the corridors of The Ilfracombe Academy after the school introduced a new scheme to encourage young musicians.
The Brass Scholars Scheme has enabled 13 students to receive financially supported brass tuition through the programme.
The academy, part of Athena Learning Trust, launched the initiative at the start of the new school year to expand access to high-quality music education.
In just two months, the young brass players have made remarkable progress and are already preparing to showcase their skills at the school’s Christmas concert.

Steve Rogers, headteacher, said: “It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and dedication of our new brass scholars.
“Opportunities like this can be life-changing for young musicians, and we are extremely grateful to all the organisations that have helped bring this programme to life.”
The school said staff are committed to providing an inclusive and inspiring musical education, with any students welcome to ask about starting brass lessons.
