A bid to renovate some of Barnstaple’s listed buildings will be among the items presented at this year’s Annual Residents’ Meeting hosted by the town council.
Barnstaple Town Council is inviting anyone who lives in the town to go along to the event at the Guildhall on Tuesday, April 21, with refreshments from 5.30pm and the meeting start at 6pm.
Residents will hear about the council’s work over the past year and its plans for the future. The evening will include a presentation of the Annual Report, updates on achievements from across the council’s committees, the presentation of grants and the Mayor’s Report.
A big item on the agenda is the town council’s proposals to renovate and maintain its various properties, some of which are listed.
The council is seeking to take out a public works loan to pay for the project and is currently asking residents for their views on the proposals via an online consultation.
Town clerk Robert Ward said: “Our public works loan application is an important step in delivering improvements to our properties, some of which are listed.
“We are encouraging residents to head online now, review the proposals and have their say. The feedback from this consultation is essential in demonstrating the level of community support required for the application.”
