Local homebuilder Barratt Homes has kicked off its new charity partnership with the James Hopkins Trust, raising more than £13,000 through a sponsored walk along North Devon’s Tarka Trail.
The walk marked the launch of a 12-month fundraising campaign after Barratt Bristol announced the James Hopkins Trust as its Charity of the Year for 2025-26.
A team of 26 Barratt employees swapped their hard hats for hiking boots, taking on the 26-mile route to support young children with life-threating conditions.
Their efforts raised £6,718, which was then match-funded by Barratt Redrow, bringing the total to £13,436.

Founded in memory of James Hopkins in 1989, the James Hopkins Trust provides vital respite care for children under six with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
The charity supports around 100 children each year through nursing care, stay-and-play sessions and home visits, giving families the chance to rest and recharge.
Ann Price, trust director at the James Hopkins Trust, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone at Barratt Homes Bristol for their incredible effort on the Tarka Trail walk.
“Raising more than £13,000 is a fantastic achievement and will make a real difference to the children and families we support. Their enthusiasm and commitment is truly inspiring, and we’re delighted to be by their side as their Charity of the Year.”
