DOZENS of children from local schools were joined by civic leaders, military representatives and members of the public at the well attended annual Children’s Remembrance Service in Rock Park, Barnstaple, on Friday.

The service was conducted by the Rev David Fletcher of St Peter’s Church, Barnstaple, himself a former serviceman.

The event, which was organised by Barnstaple Royal British Legion, included the reading of the Exhortation, the playing of Last Post and two minutes silence in memory of those who fell in the service of their country.

Children from 13 Barnstaple schools then sang and laid their wreaths at the War Memorial.
