North Devon Gazette has investigated concerns about potential overspending on the ongoing A361 Link Road project.

Councillor Phillip Twiss confirmed that Devon County Council’s investment in the project is capped at £67 million, with any additional costs expected to be borne by the contractor, Griffiths.

The Gazette sought clarification from Griffiths to determine whether the budget had been exceeded and, if so, to obtain details on the additional expenditure.

However, Griffiths declined to provide any information, stating: “We will not be making any comments or answering any questions around the scheme at the present time.”

The A361 Link Road project is a major infrastructure initiative in North Devon.

However, Griffiths’ refusal to comment leaves the Gazette’s questions about the project’s total cost unanswered.

The Gazette will continue to follow developments on this story.
