A family running a restaurant chain in Barnstaple is celebrating their 40th anniversary.

The Malek family, which runs the Wimpy restaurant in Barnstaple, recently marked this milestone with a gathering at the Park Hotel, joined by their staff, Wimpy UK head Chris Woolfenden, and special guest Claire Paine from North Devon Hospice.

The Barnstaple shop is one of only 58 Wimpy locations remaining in England.

Over the years, the Maleks have earned multiple national and local awards for their dedication, including the Barnstaple Town Cup, awarded by Mayor John Wilsher in 1999. “We are proud to have achieved this milestone, and we thank all our staff and customers for their commitment and support over the last 40 years,” they shared.

In celebration, the family presented a £1,000 cheque to North Devon Hospice, continuing their strong ties to local charities and community causes.
