New home care service launches in North Devon

Bluebird Care has named Children's Hospice South West its regional charity of the year. Pictured are Sharon Wilkinson, operations director North & West Devon and Gubs Hayer, CHSW area fundraiser.

Residents of North Devon now have access to a new, high-quality home care service with the expansion of Bluebird Care into the region.

The service, led by local husband-and-wife team William and Sara Flint, brings over 13 years of experience in delivering personalised care directly to people’s homes, enabling them to live independently as they age or recover from illness.

The Flints, who have already successfully guided Bluebird Care’s operations in Exeter and East Devon, are extending their expertise to North Devon with the launch of Bluebird Care North & West Devon.

This expansion will offer a range of services, from a few hours of care each week to full-time, live-in support, depending on individual needs.

To celebrate their arrival, Bluebird Care North & West Devon will sponsor the RUN Barnstaple event on September 29.

The event, which promotes fitness and community spirit, will see Will Flint and the new care team joining in the 10K run alongside local participants.

Marking their commitment to the community, Bluebird Care North & West Devon has also announced a fundraising partnership with Children’s Hospice South West, naming it their regional Charity of the Year.

The care team plans to engage in various fundraising and volunteering activities to support the hospice, which provides essential care for children with life-limiting conditions.

William Flint, Director at Bluebird Care North & West Devon, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our services to offer home care and live-in care to more people across Devon, as we move into North Devon. It’s a really special community and we’re proud to be a part of it.

“We are really pleased that we are also going to be supporting Children’s Hospice South West as our regional Charity of the Year. Their dedication to providing compassionate care for children and families facing the most challenging of circumstances is truly inspiring.”

Children’s Hospice South West, founded in 1991, has a deeply personal origin.

Eddie and Jill Farwell, who lost their children Katie and Tom to life-limiting illnesses, established the hospice to ensure families in the South West could access the care they need closer to home.

The partnership with Bluebird Care North & West Devon will help the hospice continue its vital work.

Gubs Hayer, Area Fundraiser from Children's Hospice South West said: “We are incredibly grateful to Bluebird Care North & West Devon for choosing us as their Charity of the Year. Their commitment in helping us raise funds and awareness will have a profound impact on the families we support across the South West. Partnerships like this enable us to continue offering vital care and comfort to children with life-limiting conditions, ensuring they receive the best possible care close to home.”
