Artwork in Bideford town centre supported

Planning and listed building consent has been granted for a two by two metre artwork panel welcoming people to Bideford.

The Discover Bideford sign will be erected on the south gable end of the Country Cottage Bakery at 22 Mill Street, a Grade II listed building.

Torridge District Council’s planning committee unanimously supported the artwork proposal by the Bideford Regeneration Panel and Town Traders.

The sign will not be illuminated and will be mounted on a timber framework at a height of six metres from the ground.

No public representations were received during the consultation period and the council’s conservation officer had no objections.
