Lidl has announced that its store on Station Road in Barnstaple will permanently close at the end of June.
This decision comes as the lease for the location, which has been in operation for nearly a quarter of a century, is coming to an end.
The supermarket chain has stated that employees at the Station Road store will be offered redeployment opportunities at nearby Lidl stores where possible.

In a statement, Lidl told the Gazette that residents would still have access to their products at other local locations.
They said: “We can confirm that the lease of our store on Station Road is coming to an end, and it has been proposed that the store, which first opened its doors almost a quarter of a century ago, will close at the end of June. However, residents can be assured that they will still be able to access our great value products at our newer, much larger Gratton Way store and also our store on Old Station Road, both of which are close by.”
Lidl opened a new, larger store on Gratton Way in 2021, which has since served as an alternative shopping location for many local customers.
The company has emphasised that this newer store, along with the Old Station Road location, will continue to provide the same range of value products that customers have come to expect.
