Who’s standing for Plymouth City Council? Full list revealed ahead of May elections

Hundreds of candidates will contest seats on Plymouth City Council when the city goes to the polls next month.

Polling stations across Plymouth will be open on Thursday, May 7, with voters choosing councillors in wards across the city.

Elections will take place in a wide range of wards including Budshead, Compton, Devonport, Drake, Efford and Lipson, Eggbuckland, Ham, Honicknowle, Moor View, Peverell, Plympton Chaddlewood, Plympton St Mary, Plymstock Dunstone, Plymstock Radford, Southway, St Budeaux, St Peter and the Waterfront, Sutton and Mount Gould and Stoke.

Each ward will elect one councillor.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday, April 20. 

Applications for postal votes must be submitted by 5pm on Tuesday, April 21, while the deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday, April 28.

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on May 7, and voters attending in person will need to bring an accepted form of photographic ID.

Candidates from the Labour Party, Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats, Green Party and Reform UK are standing across the city, alongside independents and representatives from smaller parties including the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition.

Contests are expected to take place in every ward.
