Firefighters called to Exeter cinema after smoke smell reported

Three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform attended Vue Cinema on Cheeke Street after a small fire broke out in a projector.

Firefighters were called to a cinema in Exeter yesterday evening after the smell of smoke was reported inside the building.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said it received a call at 7.53pm on Wednesday reporting smoke at Vue Cinema on Cheeke Street.

Three appliances and an aerial ladder platform were dispatched from Danes Castle and Middlemoor fire stations.

On arrival, crews found there had been a small fire in a projector, which had already gone out before firefighters reached the scene.

"We received a call at 7.53pm reporting the smell of smoke at the Vue Cinema on Cheeke Street in Exeter. Upon investigation, there had been a small fire in a projector which was out on arrival."
