North Devon students called up for England Lambs
West Buckland student Will Bliss has been selected for the England Lambs Rugby squad, a dedicated international platform designed to showcase the next generation of young talent.
It is a remarkable achievement for Will, who has been playing rugby since a very young age and will now take his skills on a tour of South Africa.
West Buckland School said: “Will Bliss is a talented and dedicated young man who has been part of the rugby world since the age of four. Having begun his journey at Marlow Rugby Club in Buckinghamshire, Will moved to North Devon in 2014 and joined Bideford RFC. His passion for the game has never wavered.
“Thanks to a Sports Scholarship and a Foundation Bursary, Will joined West Buckland Sixth Form from Bideford College at the start of this academic year. He was honoured to captain the school’s 1st XV and represent West Buckland School at the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools 7's tournament for 2 years running.
“Recognising his skill and leadership, the school nominated Will for the England Lambs U18s rugby squad, which, is a national team for independent schools from across the UK. Against very, tough, competition, he earned his place on the squad. This is a remarkable achievement for a North Devon player and a proud moment for West Buckland School rugby.
“Now, Will has been invited to represent the England Lambs on their South Africa Tour this July, which is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play internationally, develop his game, and build friendships with elite players from across the country. Will has managed to raise funding for his tour, with the help of generous local supporters, including St Margaret's Church in Northam, Northam Charities, the owners, and customers of, Northam cars, and of course West Buckland School.
“We’re proud of Will - not just for his success, but for his humility, commitment, and community spirit. He represents everything that’s best about West Buckland School.”
