Pictures: South Molton Carnival welcomes a few extra entries this year

South Molton Carnival 2025 had a few extra faces following the cancellation of Barnstaple Carnival the week before

South Molton Carnival always has plenty of entries but it had a few more on Saturday (September 27) as Barnstaple Carnival participants had been invited to join in after their own event was sadly cancelled due to weather.

There was a little rain, but nothing to deter what organisers called an ‘amazing turnout, so many happy faces’.

They included Carnival Ambassadors Lottie Collins and Josie Nicholls, joined by attendants Caleb Metivier, Isabelle Stanley, Millie Cooper and Ralph Grant. South Molton decided to drop the traditional carnival queen approach in favour of ambassadors several years ago.

But the event still had carnival queens – two in fact, as Barnstaple Carnival’s joint carnival queens Gracie Roper and Mollie-Rose Browning finally got to take part in a parade after their own event unfortunately had to be cancelled at the 11th hour last week.

All monies raised by South Molton Carnival go to local charities supported by South Molton Rotary Club.
