Join lively festival favourites and long-standing international tourers 3 Daft Monkeys in Appledore on November 29.
Firm festival favourites 3 Daft Monkeys have toured with and opened for everyone from the Levellers to Hawkwind and will be playing live at St Mary’s Hall in Appledore on Saturday, November 29.
The four-piece band and their energetic world folk set were hailed the ‘highlight of Glastonbury’ by the BBC's Mark Radcliffe, with infectious dancing rhythms that take their audiences through a musical journey of the senses and emotions.
After experiencing the band’s notoriously energetic live performances at Glastonbury Festival, Mark Radcliffe declared them as one of his ‘highlights of the festival’ on BBC TV coverage and subsequently invited the band to play a session on his BBC Radio 2 Folk Show.
The band has also performed a live session with ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris on Radio 2.
In Appledore, North Devon's new folksters Quirk will be opening the show for the band next weekend when the gig starts at 8.30pm.
The latest 3 Daft Monkeys album Information Camouflage was released at the end of last year and recorded at Devon's very own Propagation House Studios in Holsworthy, funded by a successful online crowdfunding campaign.
With their quirky and original approach to music and their passion, intensity and sheer joy of life, 3 Daft Monkeys have gained themselves a large and loyal cult following.
Their music is certainly hard to pigeonhole, mixing and crossing many musical genres from Celtic, Klezmer, gypsy, Balkan, Latin, ska, dub reggae, indie, rock, and even a hint of Shostakovich (!)
3 Daft Monkeys have gained a huge following whilst ploughing their own furrow through the music business, gaining momentum through their live performances and intensive European touring schedule.
With a four-piece line-up, the band weaves enchanting melodies with catchy choruses, virtuoso vibrant fiddle, rhythmic 12-string guitar, six-string bass, bespoke hand-percussion and four-part vocal harmonies.
Fascinating lyrics of personal and whimsical observations on life and folk tales both ancient and modern, are told within the swirling layers of their music, all with the essential catchy sing-along chorus.
The band have toured across the UK and Europe with the Levellers and opened for bands such as Hawkwind, Bellowhead, Show of Hands and Dreadzone, as well as headlining their own national tours.
Tickets for the St Mary’s Hall gig are £10, available from https://www.musicglue.com/freeoftigersevents
