The Palladium Club in Bideford is buzzing with excitement this summer as it hosts its very own Stars in Their Eyes competition, a celebration of local musical talent with a charitable twist.

The contest is well underway, with the first heat on July 5 to be followed by the second heat this Saturday (July 19) and the grand final on Saturday, August 2.

Budding performers have been taking to the stage in style, impersonating their musical idols in what promises to be a standout showcase of talent from across the area.

Club owner Ben Nigh is at the heart of the event, which is being run in support of the RainBo Music Trust – a local charity dedicated to helping aspiring musicians access tuition and instruments, and to funding music workshops in the community.

Ben said: “The support so far has been incredible. We’re seeing some amazing performances and it’s all raising money to help young musicians and community projects thrive.”

The winner of the competition will receive a six-month pass to all Palladium gigs, as well as a prime performance slot at Bideford’s Christmas Lights Switch-On, scheduled for December 7.

The first heat was a resounding success, featuring a diverse and talented line-up of performers. Anticipation is already building for the final, which promises to be a spectacular evening of live entertainment.

Doors open for the second heat this Saturday at 8pm, with the same time for the final. Entry is by a suggested donation of £5 to the RainBo Music Trust.

Anyone interested in performing in the competition can still get involved by emailing Ben at ben_nigh@hotmail.co.uk
