Unbroken is a powerful tale told through physical theatre to highlight the demons of abuse and tells a very personal story.
It is the debut solo show from physical artist and circus performer Nikki Rummer and debuts at Barnstaple Bridge Chambers next Friday (March 8) to mark International Women’s Day, in association with Beaford and North Devon Against Domestic Abuse (NDADA).
Combining her talent for storytelling and her unique movement language inspired by her acrobatics, gymnastics and capoeira practice, Nikki will tell her audience a very personal story.
One bittersweet Christmas, three generations of the Rummer family are summoned home for one last gathering…
Told through the eyes of a daughter, Unbroken weaves fragments of memories into the body of one performer as a dark, previously buried secret finds its way to the surface.
The performance starts at 8pm and has an age 16-plus advisory, with references to sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Tickets are available from https://beaford.org/events/unbroken.
Nikki is also hosting a free Physical Theatre Workshop at the Old Town Station in Barnstaple on Thursday, March 7 from 6.30-8.30pm. Visit https://beaford.org/events/nikkiworkshop for information.
