Jazz trumpeter Steve Waterman
The fine guitarist Neil Burns brings his quintet to North Devon Jazz Club at The Beaver, Appledore on Monday, November 27. The band will feature top UK trumpeter Steve Waterman and saxophonist Terry Quinney.
Steve Waterman is one of the finest trumpeters and flugelhorn players on the UK and international scene. He has played and recorded with other great jazz musicians such as Carla Bley, Andy Sheppard and John Surman and he is also an educator at the Royal Academy of Music and other institutions and a distinguished composer for small and large ensembles.
Terry Quinney after a varied and distinguished career in his native Canada is now based in the south west in the UK and a firm fixture on the UK jazz scene.
Completing the band will be the combination of organist Martin Jenkins and Ric Byer on drums and the group will perform an exciting mix of original numbers, some classics of legendary guitarist Grant Green and some gems from the Blue Note era of jazz, including numbers by Jack McDuff and Lou Donaldson .
The gig will start at 8.30pm and entry will be free (but there will be a collection for the band). Meals can be booked at The Beaver by phoning 01237 474822.
