COMEDY and drama comes to the Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe next week as Studio Theatre and Small Pond Productions join forces for the North Devon premiere of Mack and Mabel from October 14-16.

Telling the love story of Mack Sennett, who founded the studios responsible for filming the Keystone Cops and other silent movies and Mabel Normand, a silver screen star with whom he had a tempestuous relationship, Mack and Mabel combines comedy from the golden age of Hollywood with behind-the-scenes drama.

With music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, well-known songs include I Won't Send Roses, Time Heals Everything, Movies Were Movies and Tap Your Troubles Away.

Directed by Lee Baxendale with choreography by Pamela Beecham, the company has performers from across North Devon. Neil Rudd plays Mack with Joanie Slater as Mabel supported by principals Alan Bailey, Mike Bennett, Jake Goodenough, Debbie Hadley, Elizabeth Kemp, Tony Parker, Licha Parkhouse, Colin Plows and James Rushton.

It runs from Thursday of next week (October 14) until Saturday 16. Evening performances are at 8pm from Thursday to Saturday and there is also a Saturday afternoon matinee.

Book tickets from the Landmark box office on (01271) 324242 or see studiotheatreonline.org.uk for details.
