Bideford Boxing Club have another professional added to the growing stable, former standout amateur Joe Evans taking his next steps with the North Devon outfit.
Manager/trainer Richard Grigg said: “Proud to announce the signing of Welsh Light Heavyweight Joe Evans. Evans is a national champion with over 50 amateur bouts to his name. Evans is the first ever pro from Newtown, North Wales and I believe we can make him a champion.
“Evans has everything needed to do well in the pro ranks; he can box, he is durable and has a great amateur pedigree. I thank Joe for choosing me to guide his career, we will build him correctly and can now look forward to a successful career in front of him.”
Joe Evans added: “This is a dream come true, I have been an amateur boxer for 20 years and have won everything possible domestically. It’s now time to make the move into the pro ranks,
“Bideford is a long way from home in North Wales but the choice was an easy one for me, I have seen the track record with their fighters and they create champions. I had a week trial in Bideford, me and Richard Grigg instantly gelled and I know being surrounded by him and these great fighters, I will become a champion.”
Evans will look is currently undergoing medicals and the transition to the professional ranks and will look to make a debut in the summer.
