The Barnstaple rugby family came together on the weekend to celebrate the life of Alison Joce, a pioneering member of the Barnstaple Squaws, who sadly passed away on October 22.
A minute’s applause was conducted in honour of Alison and her family expressed their gratitude to all in attendance for a ‘beautiful tribute’.
On the pitch, Barnstaple Athletic progressed to the Devon Intermediate Cup Final with an outstanding 40-10 victory at a strong Paignton team. The Buccaneers slipped to defeat against Crediton but there were wins for Barum Colts and Vets.
Barnstaple Chiefs return to action in the National League 2 West with a trip to Redruth on Saturday.
South Molton are through to the semi-finals of the Devon Cup following a comprehensive 66-22 success at Exeter Athletic.
George Down led the scorers with an incredible four tries, Shane Richards bagged a brace and there were further tries from man of the match Tim Holland, Andy Richards, Luke Sanders and Jake Knapman. Tommy Heard also slotted seven conversions.
It is a big weekend ahead for Ilfracombe Rugby Club, as they prepare for an Old Boys Reunion. The Combe take on Torrington in a local derby, kicking off at 2.30pm, and all former players are invited to join the party. Full details on the Combe Facebook page.
