Bideford boxer Conor Mcintosh gets his big shot at glory this weekend live on BBC Wales, as he has a final eliminator for the British Title.

Mcintosh has a rematch against Nathan Howells from Newport, who he previously beat on points for the Welsh Title. Howells has since gone on a good run and won the Celtic Title to create the rematch with a bigger reward on the line for the winner.

Mcintosh said: “As soon as I turned professional, I said I want to win a British title. You can ask anybody, all the interviews that I’ve done since turning pro or even as an amateur, I’ve talked about it.

“Training’s been great, always is. Everything has been structured and gone well. It definitely is (my biggest fight to date), a hundred percent. Me and Nathan have boxed before, but there is a lot more on the line now.

“We’ve both improved over the last couple of years since we last boxed each other. It’ll be just under two years since we boxed; it’s given us both time to improve and work on our strengths and weaknesses.

“I’m not looking past it at all. I’m not thinking, just because of what happened last time, I’m just going to do the same again. I know it’s going to be a tough fight but I’m confident I will get the win and book myself a shot at the famous Lonsdale Belt.”

Billy Stanbury is flying inside the ropes, 12 fights undefeated and Southern Area Champion. He will have news on his next fight in the coming weeks. But in between fights he has furthered his boxing career taking his British Boxing Board Of Control Pro trainers license.

Stanbury is leading the way for the Bideford pros at the minute but with the stable growing and more pros joining behind him, he is a welcome addition to the coaching team.
