Powerful and dominant win for North Devon boxer

Bideford boxer Aaron Bird took his unbeaten run to seven fights with a shutout points victory over Leon Mitchell from Birmingham.

Bird featured on the ‘Clash on the Coast’ event in Torquay at the English Riviera Centre. Bird worked well off his trademark jab, showing good variety with the right hand behind.

Midway through the fight, Mitchell was marked up around both eyes after getting rocked several times with solid shots. Before the bell, Bird sunk in solid body shots with Mitchell visibly tiring and glad to hear the final bell.

Bird spoke after his victory: “I’m really pleased with my performance, I won every round and was very close to getting Mitchell out of there on several occasions. Mitchell was a late change of opponent, he was a big durable cruiserweight and I handled him well.

“I’m really pleased with how my career is going and I’m now ready to move onto the next level. I have a huge fight that we will be ready to announce over the next week and I will grab the opportunity with both hands. Thanks again to my team and all the support, none of this would be possible without you.”
