Victory for United Services Bowling Club
Prestigious North Devon bowls comp gets underway
Spring has sprung, summer is coming, and the bowlers of North Devon are back enjoying the lush greens of competition.
One of the top prizes on offer every year in local bowls is the Friday night Men’s Lawn Bowls Triples League, which gets underway this week and the players from United Services will be looking to repeat their success of 2024.
Last year, the team from United Services A were crowned champions after a 60-48 victory over Ilfracombe on a superb finals’ day played at Barnstaple Bowling Club.
A total of 32 teams from Ilfracombe to North Tawton will compete across all divisions, striving for the ultimate prize, the Bob Harris Trophy, which is awarded to the Champion of Champions.
Last season, an amazing 472 players took to the greens in the league programme and the showpiece event will be held this year at the United Services Club on September 13.
