Current Blights Motors North Devon Cricket League champions Bideford suffered their second defeat of the season when they lost at home to Bridestowe & Belstone at Westward Ho! by 56 runs

B&B batted first and scotched together an impressive 328 for 4, thanks mainly to the efforts of Kian Burns (95), Tallin Burns (71) and Shaquan Glasgow (53). 42 extras helped the cause

Bideford overseas player Lucanyo Metu was the pick of the bowlers with a couple of wickets. He then led the home side's reply with a quickfire 60. Extras had a good all-round game with a contribution of 58. Harry Bushin with 3 for 34 was the pick of the nine bowlers used by B&B.

The only other game was at Braunton in Division Two, as they beat visitors Newton Tracey by a healthy 127 runs.

Braunton batted first and racked up 233 for 8. Paul Derbyshire top scored with 72. Sam Reddick (36) and 34 extras were the other main contributors. Shane Andrew took 3 for 43 for Newton, and there was a couple for Dom Robson.

Newton’s chase never really got going, as they were bundled out for 106. There were two wickets each for Ian Halton, Leo Pleasance and Steve Aston, however the honours were taken by Martin Biddle, who mopped up the tail with 4 for 22.

Barnstaple and Pilton’s fixture with Ilfracombe was not played due to Ilfracombe withdrawing from the league.
