Monster fish taking the bait

The sun popped out for a rare appearance as Steve Dawe and Carl Aldridge joined a group of anglers for a day on the water on board John Barbeary’s boat Bluefin, as reported by the superb North Devon Angling News.

The reward for Steve, in addition to some welcome Vitamin D, was a personal best Spurdog of 20lbs 8oz, an amazing catch almost equalled by Carl, who landed his own Spurdog of 16lbs.

The theme of monster fish continued with Steve Butcher, who landed an extraordinary Pike weighing in a 41lbs 9oz during a fishing visit to Chew Valley. Casting a sardine into shallow waters, the bait was taken by this monster in the area between Wick Green and Spring Bay.

After a quick photo, the fish was carefully returned to the water to rest and recover before swimming away. An incredible angling moment that Steve will surely never forget!
