Young boxers impress at away venues

Bideford boxers travelled well this weekend, with junior boxers Tucker Mills and Pete Fitzgerald boxing in Cwmgoors, Wales.

Tucker Mills made an explosive start against Axel Jones from the host club to dominate round one. In round two, the pressure proved too much for Jones with big shots landing, forcing two standing counts before the ref stepped in, awarding Mills the TKO win.

Pete Fitzgerald boxed against Joe Evans from Tylorstown. Fitzgerald started sharp, scoring clean shots on the front foot. Evans pulled himself back into the fight in the second round, as he outworked Fitzgerald with combinations. It was all down to the last round, Fitzgerald dug deep with non-stop aggression and some crunching body shots to gain the split points win.

Senior boxer Dave Quinn boxed in Plymouth against Mayflower Boxer Harry Betts. Betts previously held a win over Quinn. But Quinn went out with more authority this time, on the front foot from the first bell.

In the second, Betts was struggling with the pace and some solid right crosses. Quinn continued his onslaught into the last, forcing a standing count on Betts with a big combination before gaining the unanimous points win.
