Ben Willmott with students from the partner school in Kenya
24 hours of squash to support partner school
The innovation and determination of a Year 12 student from West Buckland School is providing direct fundraising benefits to their partner school in Kenya.
Ben Willmott has worked with staff at West Buckland and the International Society team to organise a 24-hour squash marathon that will run from 6pm on Friday, February 7.
Ben said: “After visiting the school back in July, I learnt what it was like to be a student there and saw just how amazing the students were. But the school needs your help to allow it to improve in the following areas:
“Delivering the sustainable provision of food and water on site; improving the school's environment such as library, classrooms, kitchens and toilets; developing the digital skills of students and staff; supporting the development of teaching and learning to improve academic outcomes; providing essential classroom equipment and resources and maintaining the delivery of reusable sanitary pads for girls in the school
“As a team, we will keep the squash ball moving in two courts, rotating the players on and off for 24hrs straight. This will definitely be a challenge and will require some determination but in the back of our minds will be the children and staff at Agoro Oyombe as we are doing this for them. We would be very grateful of any donations, so please consider donating to this fantastic cause.”
The target of raising £1,000 for the Agoro Oyombe School has already been surpassed and it would be fantastic if the North Devon community can help Ben reach new heights in this special endeavour. Visit www.gofundme.com/f/fundraising-for-agoro-oyombe-school-kenya to make a donation if you can.
