Harley Griffiths with African Champion Muzam Kukande
Big weekend awaits Bideford Boxing Club
Four top-ranked professionals Aaron Bird (Celtic Champion), Constantine Ursu (Southern Area Champion), Muzam Kukande (African Champion) and Harley Griffiths have been training at Bideford Boxing Gym in preparation for upcoming bouts on December 7.
Bird and Griffiths, both representing Bideford, will be boxing in Swansea. Bird takes on ring veteran Victor Edgha in a six-round contest, whilst Harley Griffiths makes his ring debut against Steve Davies over four rounds.
Ursu and Kukande, who have been regular sparring partners, are both boxing in Essex, Ursu for a British Title eliminator and Kukande defending his title.
Trainer and Manager Richard Grigg spoke about upcoming bouts: “What great preparation for all, we are in a remote are but are still able to attract top professionals to Bideford, this says a lot about our club.
“As the saying goes, iron sharpens iron and the boxers are all benefitting off each other and all being under one roof together. Aaron Bird is coming on very well and is a different fighter since winning the title, he believes in himself now and is becoming a much more complete fighter and I’m expecting him to show all this in his next contest.
“Harley Griffiths is an exciting prospect and is ready for his debut, he’s young at 24 and has power in both hands, I’m expecting two wins on the night from our boxers.”
